Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a great way to learn the rhythms of seasonal produce and discover new, locally grown vegetables. A Farm Share CSA can be thought of as a vegetable subscription with the “subscriber” receiving a weekly portion of the harvest. CSA’s are a great way to support your local farmer, eat the finest in-season produce and discover new and delicious foods. They help members learn to plan meals around what is seasonal and fresh rather than what is on the grocery store shelves. Our primary goal, however, is not to stretch your tastes but to provide you with your favorites, so we allow our subscribers to customize their weekly share.
It’s a whole new way to shop for local, organic vegetables! Customizable Shares allow you to pick and choose what you receive from our bounty of fresh, seasonal vegetables. Each week we’ll walk the fields and create a list of produce that is at its peak freshness and ready to be harvested. From that list, we will create a recommended share. If you are happy with the recommended share, you can simply leave it as is and pick it up at your drop site.
If you’d like to customize your share, you can log into your account and make changes. If you already have a surplus of a particular vegetable or simply don’t like it, you can remove it and replace it with a different item available on that week’s list. If you need extra produce beyond the value of the share, it can be included in your share for an additional cost. In other words, if you don’t want any beets, you can replace them with carrots or extra salad mix. If you need extra sweet corn for an upcoming cook-out, order more!
Our shares will be balanced between roots, cooking greens, onions, salad fixings and seasonal veggies. The spring will be filled with greens, brassicas and root crops. As the summer progresses so will the diversity of produce, late season crops such as tomatoes, peppers, cherry tomatoes, eggplant and melons will be abundant. Large shares can expect between 7-9 items for a value of $27 in their box each week, while small shares will have 5-7 items each week for a value of $21. We hope that our members will expand their culinary repertoire this season but our primary goal is to provide classic produce that can be used to make healthy, simple meals. Each week we will share recipes and cooking techniques for making the most of your share.
A large share is great for members who want more variety, larger quantities of single vegetables, have a larger household, love to cook or are prepared to do some home preserving. A small share is great for members who have a smaller household like to visit the Farmers’ Market or grow their own produce.
The CSA season is 20 weeks long. It begins Wednesday, June 17th, and runs through Wednesday, October 28th.

Everyone who would like to sign up for CSA can do so at this link
Once you’ve signed up, you can pay with a credit or debit card online or mail a check to:
The order deadline to customize a box is Sunday at 6pm. If you miss this deadline, you will simply receive the default share that we have created for that week. Sorry, no exceptions.
By purchasing the season’s bounty in full, CSA members provide the farm with capital at the most crucial part of the season. When you pay in full by March 1st, you will receive an additional credit of $10 will be put into your account, if you pay by April 1st you will receive a $5 credit to your account. That additional credit can be used throughout the season to stock up on your favorites. Choosing the pay-per-week option gives you the flexibility to put your account on hold, without accruing additional credit, if you will be out of town or need some time to catch up on eating your vegetables. It also allows you to pay for your share in smaller increments. This is a great option for someone who travels a lot during the summer or is trying CSA for the first time! You can pause your subscription at any time with one week’s notice.
If you choose to pay-per-week your first share will be charged to your account when you sign up. Once the CSA season begins, your weekly share amount will be automatically deducted from your account on the Sunday evening BEFORE your weekly pickup. If you have ordered additional produce beyond the value of your share that amount will be charged the Sunday evening AFTER you have picked up your produce.
You may use the credit on your account to customize your weekly CSA shares by adding on extra produce or ordering add-on items (i.e. tomatoes for canning, extra sweet corn for a BBQ). Account credit will automatically be used before charging a card.
Credit in your cash account needs to be used by the end of the CSA Season. Credit may not be used toward the purchase of a Winter Stock-up Share but can be used to customize a winter share. We will host a warehouse sale at the end of October where credit will be accepted. Any credit remaining after the sale will expire.
If you would like to add credit to your account, you can purchase duck bucks from the “CSA Add On” section of our online storefront. Checks can be mailed to: Harlequin Produce 72664 Heart View Lane Arlee, MT 59821
When customizing orders, small share members must spend a minimum of $15 each week and large share members must spend a minimum of $20 each week. If the produce you customize in your weekly share does not equal or exceed these minimum amounts, you will be charged the minimum. If you have paid for your share in advance and customize your weekly share to meet only the minimum, the remainder of your share balance will be added to your cash account and can be spent online at a later date. Remember this amount must be used as there are no cash refunds. If you are paying per week and customize your weekly share to meet only the minimum, this credit will be applied to your balance the following Sunday after you have picked up your share. Remember pay-per-week shares are pre-billed the Sunday before your pickup, therefore any overages/underages will be applied to the billing that occurs the following Sunday after you have picked up that specific share.
